Help with this Maths question plz =)?

The diagram below shows a birthday card. (sorry I dont know how to add the diagram in) but picture this:

Ok, here's how you do it:

What you need to know is the perimeter of the card and as you can see, you have a rectangle and half a circle, so you need the length of three sides of the rectangle, two short and one long, and the perimeter of half a circle.

You know that the perimeter of a circle is given by 2*pi*radius. Since you only want half the perimeter, then it would be 2/2*pi*radius = pi*radius.

Where the diameter of the semi circle wil be 12cm so its radius will be 6 cm. so, in order to get the perimeter of your card and the length of the ribbon, you use the next equation:

Perimeter=10cm+12cm+10cm+pi*6cm = 50.8 cm

So you need a 50.8cm ribbon for this card.
