Leather chap, a cowboy outfit is worn for protection. While horse riding, biking, motor cycle race, climbing mountains etc on such adventurous journey's leather chaps prevents from injuries, if any. But today apart from making sturdy statements it makes stylish statements also.
But simply looking for leather chaps in the store and take any is not the right way. There are certain measures that have to be kept in mind while purchasing a leather chap. Otherwise you will merely waste your valuable time and money on the chap that do not fit you well and is uncomfortable in wearing.
Here are given few guidelines that will channelize you while buying leather chaps ;
Foremost significant point that can get you excellent chap is fabric. The higher the quality, for more time chaps will last. Look for leather material that goes well with chaps and is bona fide and long-lasting. Fabric that is commonly used for making leather chaps is the cowhide leather. It is due to its sturdy and tough nature, which helps in resisting corrasions and minimizes injuries in case of mishaps. Though other leathers are also used for making leather chaps but cowhide is the best.
Leather chaps are not worn directly over the body. They are put on over jeans in order to prevent legs from getting injury. The pants should be of tight fit so that chaps can be comfortably worn above them; else the chaps won't fit properly and will make you uneasy in wearing. Thus while purchasing a leather chap go wearing tight fitting jeans and try chap over them.
Properly check the fit and comfort level. Trial is very must with leather chaps as it has to be worn above some other clothing. Leather chaps should be of right fit not very tight as already tight outfit is worn inside it. If both will be tight it will make you comfortless and your bike ride unpleasant.
Chaps styles keep changing. If you go with fad it's very good. But it's more good to go with styles that will never become outdated, as you can wear them at anytime without giving a though whether they are in fad or not. They are even less expensive and practical. Also they can be accessorized, if suddenly your mood switches from being simple to stylish.

Running Braid for Western pleasure?
The horse I might be getting has a very long mane(all of the horses at the rescue do they don't pull or trim) I was wondering if I could do a running braid for Western pleasure, horsemanship, etc? She will only be showing in small shows for experience as she is only green broke at the moment and we will be training over the winter and into next summer. We will only be doing our best not trying to win or anything.
Can I do a running braid(I am very good at it as I have practiced it a lot) or should I just band it long(I am not very good at banding even short manes) or leave it down?
All we will be showing is small 4-H shows and that kind of thing. The biggest show we will be going to is The county fair at the end of the year when She will probably be ready for her mane to be pulled.
Braiding is generally reserved for Hunter horses and Saddle type horses. Please don't braid your horse's mane if he is a stock type (paint, quarter horse, appaloosa, etc.). If you have a stock type you can band it at the top and let the rest hang naturally, or you can do a fancy pattern with many bands. You don't necessarily need to cut your horse's mane for showing. Just make sure the mane is tidy and banded before the show. Be sure it's tangle free and shiny no matter what the length.
If you have a saddle type I would either leave it alone or do a running braid. Either would be fine.
