Printed Silk Fabrics Sewing Tips: How to make a Makeup Bag!
Makeup bags come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some zip open, but drawstring makeup bags are more reliable than makeup bags with zippers because zippers sometimes break. Having a makeup bag that zips open can be a problem if the zipper malfunctions when you are away from home and getting ready for a big social event. Not being able to gain access to your makeup could be a problem. Another good feature of the drawstring makeup bag is that you can design one yourself.
1. Cut a cardboard circle, 4.5 inches in diameter. Cut three cloth circles, 5.5 inches in diameter. Set one of the cloth circles aside. Using a threaded sewing needle, sew around the two cloth circles, one-quarter inch in from the edge of the fabric, stopping halfway to insert the cardboard circle between the two pieces of fabric. Continue sewing around the cardboard, up to your first stitch, then set the piece aside.
2. Cut an 18-by-18 inch piece of fabric and sew the ends together, approximately one-half inch in from the edge, with the right sides of the fabric facing each other. When done, fold the circle of fabric in half so only the right side of the fabric shows. Sew along the bottom of the folded fabric to keep the two pieces of fabric together.
3. Iron the fabric so the fold lies flat.
4. Pin the lace trimming to the folded fabric, one inch down from the folded edge. Sew the trim to the fabric, along the top edge of the trim. Make another stitch one-half down from the first stitch. Thread the satin ribbon through the holes in the lace trim, between the two rows of stitches, going in one hole and coming out of the next hole until you reach the end. Clip the safety pin to the ribbon to help feed it through. Remove each pin as you sew before reaching each pin with the sewing needle on your machine to avoid hitting the pin with the sewing machine needle.
5. Pin the stitched end of the folded fabric to the edge of the single cloth circle, with the wrong sides of the fabric exposed.
6. Sew the edge of the cloth circle to the edge of the folded fabric, stitching approximately one-quarter in from the edge.
7. Turn the makeup bag to the right side so the seam at the bottom is on the inside of the bag.
8. Place the covered cardboard inside the bag, pushing it down to the bottom for a tight fit.
9. Put your makeup inside your makeup bag, pull the drawstring tight to close it and tie a pretty bow

What is a good fabric to sew with fleece?
I'm making baby blankets and using a cute cotton pattern on the other side of the fleece. It just seems like when I sew it, the two fabrics don't sew well together and what I thought was a nice clean straight stich becomes crooked. It's like the two fabrics got thru the machine differently. IDK. I can usually sew a straight line. Anyways, is this a common problem or just me? Also would flannel sew better to fleece?

You can find a generic WF at most fabric shops or at a sewing machine dealer.
Fleece as in polar fleece and not sweatshirt fleece pills and sheds with use.
Should you decide to use flannel, be sure to pre-wash and dry before cutting and sewing - it tends to shrink and this may ruin the look of the blanket after it is washed.
After completing the blankets, give them a light wash to remove lint before giving or using.
