Tri-fold Brochures: Make Sure They Fold Correctly
Tri-fold brochures can be a great way to advertise your business and the products or services that you have to offer. However, printing a tri-fold brochure can be a bit of a challenge when you are considering the folds. Here is what you need to know to make sure everything reads, and folds, correctly.
Elements to Consider
When you are designing your tri-fold brochure, you should keep in mind that if your copy runs across the fold, it can be difficult to read. And in some cases, if you use a folding machine, the ink will leave an impression on the other side. Therefore, it is important to consider these facets when designing your layout.
The most important element to consider is where your brochure will fold. Remember, you cannot print from fold edge to fold edge. The larger your project is, the bigger the margin is. If your unfolded brochure is the size of a traditional sheet of paper, then margins should be 1/8 to ¼ inch. The remaining space is the area you have to work with for text and images.
The Layout of a Tri-fold Page for Printing
Because of the way a tri-fold brochure is folded, figuring out the layout can be a little tricky. It helps to develop a visual aid by folding a piece of paper.
Fold the right third of a sheet of paper over. Next, fold the left third over this. This should give you a sheet of paper that is folded evenly into thirds, or a total of six pages. Now number the pages. The front of the brochure is page one. When you open this, page two is the left side. Open the right side, and the middle becomes page three. The right side becomes page four. Refold the right side, and the top becomes page 5. Page 6 is the back middle, which would be the mailing side if you are sending out the brochure.
Design Tips
Once you have figured out the layout of your tri-fold brochure, you will need to design it. There are software programs that you can use to do the design, or you can use a word processing program that allows for columns, such as Microsoft Word.
If you choose to design the brochure yourself, make sure that you have chosen the landscape page orientation for your printed project. You will then need to create three columns – these will be the three separate pages of the printout. Keep in mind that it will take two pages to create your brochure – one for the front three sides and one for the back three sides. Set up your margins and get to work. Refer to your folded template while designing to make sure that your pages flow the way that you intended. You may consider printing up a rough draft to make sure that the final product is what you want.
Once you have designed all of the elements of your brochure, you will need to have it printed. Online printers will allow you to create a professional looking, full color brochure to send to your clients.

My laptop advent 9315 case is broken. Are there compatible models that I can use their cases?
Hi, I’ve bought an advent 9315 laptop. By the normal use, one of the two folding edge has been broken. I am thinking of changing the laptop case. I‘ve tried to find a case only on ebay and other websites but I did not find a case. I am thinking to try to find a compatible case.
Is there a compatible model with this laptop that I can use its case?
Oh my!! I think the exact same thing has happened to mine. It's the black folding edge that has come off, but with mine some of the metal bit that you can see is slightly come up, and now I am extremely worried because I'm not sure if they can push this done, and make it new again. I am just going to take it to pc world and see if they can change it around there. Sorry I wasn't able to give you a better answer, but I was actually looking for answers myself.
