The Uncomfortable Truth About Face Creams And How To Avoid Inferior Expensive Products

Who says price is the only deciding factor for buying face creams? Let us face it. Very often, the price does influence the consumer quite a lot. Consumer Reports did an interesting survey on this issue. They discovered that a very expensive luxurious product retailing at $189 was not nearly as effective as a very cheap one selling at $16.

As regards forums on face creams, you could spend all your time surfing the Net. However I found one or two gems on this price issue as well. Another Consumer Reports shows that the slightly more effective face cream was moderately priced at about $60 beating two very famous brands who only took second and third place. These second and third winners were selling their products at around $170, almost three times the price of the winning cream. What a pity that Consumer Reports did not publish the criteria they used for assessing these products.

Don't you think that the words 'slightly more effective' says it all? Price is not a guiding factor and the reporter presenting these figures on a TV show said that the only effective way to reduce wrinkles and turn back the clock was to avoid the sun and never to start smoking!

I was also interested to find out some views on mainstream products and wondered if these were still attracting more consumers than for a product such as a natural face cream.

One startling fact struck me as I read the forums and that was the general dissatisfaction with very famous brands. The general view was that they were just not doing the job and there were a lot of consumers who were talking of changing from one product to another. It seemed to be an eternal quest and it was not getting them the results that they so desperately wanted. They often quoted an improvement in skin tone but no improvement at all in reducing wrinkles or sagging skin.

So, how can we avoid inferior products? The research for an effective and safe natural face cream is still occupying many people's lives and with good reason. The products I have mentioned above are laced with chemicals and cannot be considered as either safe or effective.

The best face creams on the market to-day are those that are using natural, skin friendly ingredients which work with the skin and not against it.
