A little Bit about Sewing Machines and The Parts
You have a sewing machine and learn how to use it can really save money on clothes. Not only can you dress your own, but you can change the clothes you already own or that you have to sell, but not quite right. The first thing you should to do when you receive your sewing machine is to learn the different parts of the sewing machine. You should familiarize yourself with the different parts of the machine, so you can learn to sew and run with it.
There are 16 basic parts of the sewing machine. These 16 pieces are coil, pedal switch, the length of the control point, the spring width control point, balance, shoe, leg, the plate supply, needle, pin, guide wire, spool, spool pin wire, the adoption and the voltage regulator above. The manuals for each machine will show you where all these things and also tell you to use multiple different parts of the machine.
One of the hardest things to learn to sew on a household appliance is like wire tension control. The guide gives you the components used for threading a sewing machine and thread tension. Guide will show you how we go about putting on your machine what to look for stabbing to inform you that the needs have changed over, and how to adapt. If your tension on your thread is too loose your stitches will not be flat against the fabric. If the tension is too tight spots and pull the fabric wrinkles.
Once you learn the basics of sewing machine parts, you can sew on almost all machines, even manual machines or quantum block sergers. Overlock requires a little work to learn to lace, but offers a unique way of sewing and working with an elastic material. Learning to sew is a good hobby to pick up and in addition to fixing your own clothing it also can be a source of profit in making repairs and alterations to others clothing.

Sergers, benefits and drawbacks compared to a sewing machine.?
My wife has 9 sewing machines and 1 serger. Each one has it's own functions (although she *does* have too many sewing machines).
She has just come off a stint of sewing costumes for a stage production. The serger was the most useful machine in that case.
It's really like comparing apples and oranges -- what are the benefits and drawbacks of apples and oranges? Sergers can do seams and hems in an excellent professional looking manner, but they can't do straight stitches, zig-zag, button holes, or even embroidery (on one of my wife's machines) etc. A sewing maching is a bettter machine for general use, because it can do it all -- except for that nice factory edge on seams and hems.
Here's what you should do. Get a good sewing machine, now, and in a year or two get a serger.
