Any idea what kind of insect?
So when I was younger I was bitten/stung twice by a mystery bug. As an adult, I would like to know what kind of bug this is. One time was on the ankle (it was in some uncut grass) and another time on my hand (it was in a tree). The bug resembles a squash bug except bigger. It was entirely dark gray both times with no noticeable patterns. The bug had ridges on its back almost like an over-emphasized spine (so running down the center). I never noticed one flying, but it could. The bite it left hurt a LOT (I had lots of stings as a kid and I would rate it worse than a wasp). The bite/sting would leave a black spot which looked like it was under the skin and the surrounding area would turn noticeably white. The swelling was the most dramatic part- my foot and hand both became immense.
