Learn pattern drafting to create unique sewing patterns
Nowadays majority of patterns are created by printing on one single sheet, many kinds of sizes. You need to make a judicious pick from them, the one that is supposed to match most of your measurements happily. A farrago is something that you have to bring about which can fit your body perfectly. For example if you have to choose a pattern that is suitable for both your hip and waist measurement then you need to go for the pattern that is closer to your hip measurement since waist line is something that you can get altered.
Time has been very fortunate indeed because now there are many companies that make pattern drafting software to suit the purpose of the home sewers. How do you use such software to learn pattern drafting? You can simply input your measurements and choose your designs, print the pattern from a printer simply. You can go for hand drafting patterns in order to create exclusive sewing patterns as well. This can be real fun. There are many workshops and community colleges from where you can learn it. There are books that you may get hold of in order to learn more about this style.

knitting patterns for us size 13 straight needles?
i want to knit something but i only have size 13 needles and every pattern that i find is for smaller needles. can someone give me a pattern or a link to one, or even just a list of what can be made with that size needle. also i was wondering if i could knit leg warmers with that size needles??

Honestly, you should really get some more needles. But there are still things you can make with those. The problem with leg warmers is that they should really be made "in the round." That means that you should knit them around and around in a circle, and to do that you would need a circular needle, or 4 or 5 double pointed needles. If you want to make leg warmers with long straight needles, you will have to knit them "flat," which means back and forth, and then sew them up with a seam when you're finished. Most legwarmer patterns will want you to knit in the round. An advanced knitter could convert the pattern to flat knitting, but you may not want to try that if you're still new.
I don't know how much you know about knitting, so bear with me if you already know this. The reason why patterns want you to use a certain size needle is that you're supposed to have a finished project that's the same size as the one the designer made. This is called "gauge." Gauge is important if you're making something like a sweater where if you use the wrong needle you will end up with something way too big or small. Gauge is less important if you're making something like a scarf. It's not going to matter if your scarf is a little too thin, or too wide, and you can stop knitting whenever it's as long as you want.
A great website for patterns is KnittingPatternCentral.com. All of the patterns are divided by category, and they have hundreds of scarf patterns. You would be able to make most of them with size 13's, regardless of the size that the pattern calls for. Another great reference for knitting is a site called Ravelry.com. You have to sign up for it, but it's free. There is a great selection of patterns, and you can do searches through the database by needle size, or what kind of item you'd like to make. There are also hundreds of forums where you can talk to lots of knitters to answer all your questions.
The last suggestion I have is about the yarn you choose. Because your needles are so big you're going to want to make sure you have the right weight of yarn. Thicker yarns are going to work better. The weight should be at least 4 or 5. The words to look for are "worsted" "aran" or "bulky".
