How do you sew a button to a shirt?...?
Yeah. So I'm working in a restaurant that requires that the shirts have a button-down collar. Unfortunately, I haven't got one of those, nor do I have money to buy a new shirt. The cleaners the restaurant recommended aren't able to do the job today, and I have to have it done in 2 hours. I have the materials... Needle and thread and buttons... I just don't know exactly what I'm doing... .... ?
Ok, E. Here's what you need to do. With the shirt on so that the collar lays where it needs to be, pin the points of the collar to the shirt. Carefully remove the shirt. Tack the points of the collar to the shirt with a couple of quick stitches. Then sew the buttons to the collar making sure you pull the needle all the way through the shirt. That should do it.
You might check out the local Goodwill or Salvation Army store. They usually have mens button-down shirts.
