How do you sew a patch onto a crochet piece?
I'm working on a crochet scarf for a Christmas present and I would like to place a patch on it. The patch is about 3" across and round. It's a Jack Skellington patch, just the face. I've never put a patch on yarn crafts before so I'm not sure how to even begin. Should I get an iron-on or a stitch only patch? How do I prepare the scarf for the patching and if I need a stitch only patch, how should I go about sewing it?
You shouldn't use an iron on patch, it won't work as it does on fabric, and ironing will cause the yarn to 'melt.' Sew the patch on by hand, using a blanket stitch, and with heavy duty thread (like hand-quilting thread) or with DMC embroidery thread (the kind used for cross-stitching). You can use an iron-on if the picture on it doesn't come in a stitch-on one; just sew it on the same way
