what stitch is best for waist bands on stretch material?
using stretch material and i am trying to sew in a waistband...what stitch is best?
ZIgzag or another stretch stitch if you have a conventional sewing machine and you're relying on the stretch of the fabric for fit; straight stitch if you're going to elasticise the waistband; 3 or 4 thread overlock on a serger.
Stitches chosen should reflect the nature of the seam... is the seam itself going to have to stretch?
You may also want to experiment with cut-on waistbands on stretch fabrics.
