Hot Wheel Cars - Reliving Your Childhood
Hot Wheel Cars are made of diecast metal and are manufactured by Mattel. In 1968 they made there market place debut, to which they were an enormous success. The original line of Hot Wheel cars included 16 different cars, which are now more commonly known as the "Sweet Sixteen". These 16 cars came in plenty of different colors and were originally manufactured in plants located across the United States and Hong Kong.
The production of Hot Wheel Cars is moved exclusively to Hong Kong in 1972. Cars from 68 - 72 came with one hugely distinct trait. The tyres on these cars had a red line running on the tyre walls. The Redlines became a hugely effective trademark of those early models and the Redline era was born out of it.
Redline Hot Wheels Cars were probably a staple diet for every young male for the past 40 years. fresh Redlines became part of the American psyche, by copying the popular cars of that era. In fact 9 of the first 16 were copies from cars from that era, while the other 7 were nothing more than display cars.
This period of Hot Wheels Cars had other noticable features, as well as red lines on tyres. Each car was painted in shiny metallic colors called Spectaflame paint and the wheels had chrome styled hot rod type rims. Each style would invoke the minds of young boys all over the world. The cars were also packaged in blister packs with flashy colored cardboard backs.
Grown up men are now trying to recapture these childhood memories and are enthused with hunting these rare vintage early Hot Wheels. Redline and Hot Wheel Cars in general, is on the rise, as with baseball collecting, these cars are becoming big business.
