I would go with something light to lighten the room up. Try a light blue. Purples and blues compliment each other really well. Maybe a light blue bed spread with purple and pearl accents (pillows or stitches in the spread). If you already have enough color in your room try going with an off white or an light tan. These should all look great. Get an accent rug that is light to draw attention down to make the room appear larger and roomier. Get curtains with some light in them to really make the purple pop.
