How do we know that plants can't feel pain?
My 5 year old loves living things and has begun to get upset when I trim trees or if we make a craft that involves using leaves off of trees. He doesn't want to cause them pain. The only logical explanation I could think of to tell him was that they don't have nervous systems like we do. Probably a common sense question, just thoght I'd ask out of curiosity so I could explain it to my son
Remind him that he trims his "branches and leaves" as well - when he gets his hair cut, or it falls out.
